My self promotion relates to my last name ‘Beecham’.The idea for my logo came from the notion that Worker Bees are hardworking female insects who work in a group well to achieve their goals, similar to myself. Pollen features throughout my promotional materials to continue the link back to Worker Bees.

    Discover
“Many UK transgender students receive poor or non-existent grades because of the stress occurred within their learning environment.” This statement has given me the validity to start my research proposal; it explains there is ignorance around the topic of transgender equality, creating a frictional and confrontational approach within a school environment.

    Define
My question explores how design can influence transgender equality, and how design can make the issue less concealed. The promotion of transgender equality will help schools become more inclusive for gender variant children; it will ultimately provide more support to transgender pupils.
    Develop
I have been working intensively to create a set of icons which represent the terms which fall underneath the word Transgender. My extensive research suggests that the understanding of the terms is the most confusing aspect of diversity, therefore creating these icons will aid the learning process of pupils at secondary school level.

    Deliver
Lexicon is an educational pack including a set of nine icons which represent the terms to describe the word Transgender. These terms are complicated and confusing, but Lexicon can help you understand and make sense of these different descriptions. Lexicon is a fun, effective and interactive way to learn about equality and diversity for teenagers at secondary school aged between 11-16 years.

  • Little shop of graphics
‘The Little Shop Of Graphics’ was a brief to help brand a shop which will showcase limited edition screenprints from peers in the class to raise money for the BA(Hons) Graphic design degree show. The idea behind this logo was to base it on the principles in which designers follow, the double diamond theory.‘Develop’,‘Discover’,‘Define’ and ‘Deliver’ as this describes us as junior designers. The concept of the logo which I have created derived from looking at the molecule
structure of the diamond and creating the intricute pattern which occurs within it, this gave me a strong basis to work with.

  • Crazy Cakes Bakery NY
Crazy Cakes is a new cakery in New York City. They wanted a clean, fresh quirky brand that described them as a company. I chose to create this brand with influence from their name. One of many definitions for crazy is "appearing absurdly out of place or in an unlikely position" I wanted to reflect this in the typography by making the characters seem in an unlikely position.

  • Wartime Exhibition at Weston Museum.
Set of 4 posters for a wartime exhibition. The poster relates to the war using images inspired from advertisements during this frightful time. I have used the flight paths of the spitfire and the targets which are painted onto the planes as my main inspiration. I wanted to keep the colours monotone and simple to show the sadness which occurred during this time.

    Weston Pier destroyed by inferno

Using happy colours to contrast with the sadness of the pier being lost.

Unfortunately weston lost its pier during the fire of july 2008. I wanted to reflect on this, contrasting 3 different images merging together to reveal this collage of destruction and renewal. The images are before the pier caught fire, during and after when there was nothing left but metal and rubble.
The aim is to restore the memories so they are not lost and forgotten.

  • Iconic Speeches reflected through Typography.
A brief entitled "A world in words" I wanted to reflect on the iconic speeches that took place during ww2 and how they fit together to create an inspiring message. Quotes taken from Winston Churchill, Princess Elizabeth (now the queen of england) Neville Chamberlain and George V1.

  • Personal Identity
Will eventually be apart of a self promotional pack to send out to potential employers. Playing on my name and the product 'Beecham's pills' The idea came from everyday life. When I get asked to spell my name the majority follow the spelling with "ohh like beecham's medicine" So i wanted to reflect this within my personal identity so people will hopefully remember me.

  • BA(hons) Art & Design Degree Show Branding
We have been approached by the BA Art & Design class to design their branding for the show. The theme is based around the students embarking on a journey, We have created a new typeface from the London underground map with each student reflected as a station, to show they are stopping off at different paths and going their separate ways when they graduate. Each student is portrayed through a colour from the tube map.
